RISING TALENTS OF ATLANTA HIRES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
ATLANTA, GA. (October 10, 2007) – Rising Talents of ATLanta (RTA) announced today that it has hired Ms. Kathy Gates as its Executive Director. Ms. Gates is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Management. For the past nine years Ms. Gates has managed the Atlantis Music Conference and Festival with responsibilities which include selecting artists and panelists for the Festival, procuring sponsorships and managing overall Festival activities. Ms. Gates is also a partner in Atlanta Music Unites, a non-profit organization which raises money for charitable causes through city-wide concerts. Earlier this year, Ms. Gates was elected to the Board of Governors of the Atlanta chapter of The Recording Academy (www.grammy.com) which recognizes achievement in the music industry through its annual GRAMMY awards program.
Ms. Gates’ primary responsibilities at RTA will include developing its sponsorship and other fund raising programs, furthering its collaborative education effort with the professional music and entertainment communities and developing and promoting RTA’s education mission throughout the region’s public and private secondary school systems.
According to Roger Sheffield, President of RTA, “Kathy’s recognized skills in managing music-oriented non-profit organizations together with her in-depth knowledge of industry participants will greatly enhance RTA’s credibility and visibility in both the education and music communities.”

RTA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the artistic education of talented high school vocalists through participation in professional coaching activities, an entertainment event and scholarship competition. RTA was founded by Roger Sheffield as a way of assisting high school vocalists in achieving distinction in the development of their artistic and technical expertise in the fields of music and entertainment. RTA’s first annual entertainment event will be a musical revue entitled “Singularity” which will take place at the Rialto Centre on February 2, 2008.
